CHARTER

The Members of the Arts Ananda Trust consists of distinguished people from different walks of life, nationally and internationally, who are devoted to the revival, preservation and promotion of the Arts and Culture. The members of the Council will follow a mandate that consists of:
  • Advising on the nature of the projects, artists, organizations and activities to be supported, keeping in view the aims and objectives of the Trust.
  • Promoting experimentation in art and achieving higher standards of workmanship, developing thought-provoking workshops, symposiums, residencies, performances, festivals and events.
  • Advise on the current and prevailing practices and industry standards in the field and adopt them in its working.
  • Identifying similar Trusts/associations/groups and organizations in different countries while initiating and promoting interactions between them and the Trust.
  • Assisting in the exchange of experts working with the Trust and those working abroad in similar organizations to enhance knowledge in the field of arts to the mutual benefit of both.
  • Identifying donors, who can finance and assist in the implementation of the various projects to be supported by the Trust and also advise on how such funding can be obtained.
  • To promote communities and education that is affiliated with visual and performing art.
  • Suggesting to the Trust, methods and techniques of spreading awareness amongst the people of the country, especially the youth and children.
  • Identifying capable persons in different fields of art conservation, cultural development through the arts and heritage, crafts development, creative writing, photography, film, performance, etc., and assisting the Trust in obtaining the services of these experts from time to time whenever required.
  • Facilitating workshops in art to enable building up of a pool of knowledge and skills, discuss techniques and innovation, creative thought and multidisciplinary dialogue.
  • Introducing various artists, organizations and professionals to one another and building a strong networking among those of the field.
  • Helping in disseminating information of the activities of the Trust and its projects both in India and abroad and seeking cooperation in the implementation of the projects from the corporate world as well as government and non-government organizations.
  • Carrying out regular and periodic reviews of the activities of the Trust and suggest changes and modifications wherever necessary.
  • Work for the Trust in all earnestly and with ethical practice.

FOCUS AREAS

  • The visual arts such as painting, drawing, visual art, sculpture, pottery, graphics, photography, illustrative art, digital art, installation art, folk art, functional arts and other such forms.
  • The performing arts, music, dance, video, film, theatre and other such performances.
  • Literature, including but not limited to prose, poetry, graphical novels, essays and other such forms.

Arts Ananda Trust supports organizations that are working under the purview of the Trust's objectives and Charter. These organizations regularly carry out activities that promote the welfare of arts and creativity:

ART ICHOL

A world-class award-winning Visual Arts Centre in the heart of rural India. It is a pioneering institution that hosts National and International Artists in unique artist-in-residence programmes to develop thought-provoking and experimental works of art. The Centre facilitates at least 5 underprivileged artists each year while also involving the local rural children and communities in the surrounding villages to develop skills through workshops held by artists visiting the Centre. Community building, sustainability and cultural preservation are mainstays of Art Ichol.

NATYA VRIKSHA DANCE COMPANY

Natya Vriksha enshrines the best philosophies of Indian classical culture. It has evolved a holistic method of transmitting classical dance; training students in dance (theory and practice), dance aesthetics, music, aharya (costuming and make-up), stage design and sound & light technologies. Currently nearly 100 students, including those deprived backgrounds, are being trained in classical dance at Natya Vriksha. The Company has forged a reputation for its crisp and mature group dance presentations.
